House Proud Shutters Fitting Service

Installing your shutters is easy!

What's In The Box?

Inside your shutters box you will have the following:

Left, right, top, bottom frame (unassembled)
Wedges to (be inserted into frame)
Large screws (for screwing frame to window frame)
Small screws (for screwing the hinge to frame)
Red wedges (for reveal fitting only)
White or timber colour caps (to hide screws)
Pins (to hold panels to frame)

Assembling Your Frame

Unwrap all the frame pieces. They will be labelled, left, right, top and bottom.

Using the wedges that are provided, insert them into the ends of the frames.  Very self explanatory where they go.  There is one large wedge and one small wedge per piece of frame.

Join the frame together, making sure your wedges are sitting flush and not protruding through the back of the frame.

Once the frame is together, take the frame over to your window.

Recess (Reveal) Fit Installation

If you are fitting in the recess (reveal) sit frame on bottom of recess.  Take your red wedges and put 2 to 3 across bottom, top, left and right.  This will give you an even gap all around the shutter frame and will hold in place so you can screw your frame in.

Drill a hole in the middle of the top frame first and then screw in you screws to hold into place.  It’s really up to you how many screw you want in your frame.  With a smaller shutter kit 2-3 across the top, 2-3 across bottom, 2-3 left and right sides.  If you like you can put a screw in behind the hinges on the sides as once the shutter panels are on they will hide the screws.

Once your frame is screwed on grab you panels and put them onto the frame.  One part of the hinge is already on the frame with the other part on the panel.  Just put into place and put the pins provided into the hinges.  You may have to loosen the screw that is in the hinges to adjust the height of your panels.  Once you have the desired height then grab the small screws and finish screwing off the hinges.  There should be 3 screws per hinge. Then grab the little white buttons and put them into the screws that were screwed into panel (this will hide the screws).

Now that’s all done you will need either white or a timber colour gap filler and put a bead between your window and shutters. Congratulations you have completed your shutters.

Face Fit Installation

For face fit you may need an extra hand.  Take frame and hold against existing frame.  Make sure it’s level with the top and sides of the existing window frame.  With the face fit shutters there is a cover strip which is in the middle of the frame.  Take this out and you will see holes where to screw the frame to the window frame.  There is no need to use all the holes as it’s a bit of an overkill.  Just use aprrox 3-4 top, 3-4 on bottom 3-4 on both left and right sides.  On the back of your cover strips there are small strips of double sided tape.  Just take off the back of each little strip and then reinsert into frame.  This will hide all the screws and make your frame look great.

Now grab the little white buttons and put into the screws that were screwed into panel (this will hide the screws).

Now that’s all done you will need either white or a timber colour gap filler and put a bead between your window and shutters. Congratulations you have completed your shutters.
